Recently there have been various studies to determine whether or not California’s exceptional drought is caused by climate change.
According to today’s article in the LA Times , a few different studies suggest that the drought has no clear link to human-caused climate change. While a recent study by Stanford University finds a link between greenhouse gas emissions and the draught situation that California is currently experiencing.
No matter what the cause is, the time is ripe for implanting water saving techniques whether it’s planting a drought tolerant landscape, taking shorter showers, or installing a greywater or rainwater harvesting system.Even if you don’t have the money to spend on one of these systems, you could adopt a simple manual “bucket and chuck it” method by placing a plastic tub in the sink to wash dishes or a small bucket in the shower to catch water that would otherwise be wasted down the drain. Also, keep an eye out on our events section for upcoming greywater and rainwater harvesting DIY workshops.
